Established in 2002 by the Sauvage family, Burn Cottage was founded with a singular vision of creating world class Pinot Noir from an extraordinary vineyard site. After an extensive search across New Zealand, the family selected a naturally sheltered amphitheatre at the foot of the Pisa Range, believing it possessed all the qualities required to produce truly exceptional wines. From the beginning, the estate has been guided by internationally respected winemaking expertise and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Every vine at Burn Cottage is farmed using certified biodynamic principles, creating a living ecosystem where healthy soils, biodiversity and minimal intervention allow the vineyard to flourish naturally. The estate focuses predominantly on Pinot Noir, complemented by small quantities of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner.
