Founded in 2001, Mondillo is the vision of Domenic Mondillo, whose Italian family traditions and lifelong passion for food and wine inspired him to create wines that are expressive, balanced and made to be enjoyed around the table. After decades of developing vineyards throughout Central Otago, Domenic recognised the exceptional potential of Bendigo and established his own estate, carefully selecting north facing terraces ideally suited to producing premium cool climate wines.
The 22 hectare single estate vineyard is planted predominantly with Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay, alongside small plantings of Gewürztraminer. Warm Bendigo days, cool alpine nights and free draining schist and gravel soils provide ideal growing conditions, producing wines with purity, elegance and remarkable concentration. Every vine is carefully managed by a dedicated vineyard team, with sustainable farming practices and hand harvesting ensuring each vintage faithfully reflects the unique character of the Bendigo terroir.
Mondillo is best known for its award winning Central Otago Pinot Noir, complemented by beautifully crafted Riesling, Chardonnay, Rosé and late harvest dessert wines. Produced in small quantities, every bottle reflects Domenic's philosophy of allowing exceptional fruit and thoughtful winemaking to take centre stage, creating wines with balance, texture and a true sense of place.
