Brennan Wines GIBBSTON
Brennan Wines is a family-owned and operated winery nestled in the picturesque Gibbston subregion of Central Otago. The land was originally acquired by Dr. Sir Murray Brennan in 1994, making it one of the earliest vineyards planted in Gibbston. Sean Brennan, the winemaker, crafted their inaugural vintage in 2006. The winery exclusively sources its grapes from their 13-hectare estate. In addition to producing two Pinot Noirs (Brennan Pinot Noir and B2 Pinot Noir), Brennan Wines offers a diverse range of varietals including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. In 2013, their 2011 B2 Pinot Noir was awarded Champion Red Wine at the International Wine Challenge.
Sean Brennan distinguishes himself from other regional winemakers through his innovative blends. His signature creation, the Brennan Trio, is a white blend of Gewürztraminer, Muscat, and Riesling, with slight variations in percentage depending on the vintage. Additionally, Sean produces Gibbston’s only Tempranillo, a rare varietal in New Zealand, and offers a unique Rosé blend combining Tempranillo with Zinfandel.
